[영어 작문] 노인과 바다 감상문

수업시간에 했던 "노인과 바다" 의 영어 감상문이다. 영어 작문에 혹시 도움이 될까 하여 올려본다. 사실 내 영어실력은 진짜 좋지 않으므로, 문법이 틀렸다느니 엉망이라느니란 말은 날 잠못들게 한다.. 

The novel “the Old Man and the See”, written by Ernest Hemmingway in 1951, gives a significant lesson to me who easily give up when I meet a problem. Throughout this fiction, I thought that hope is one of the most important things when people live. At first time, I just imagined Santiago, the old man who could not catch fish for 84 days, would be fail forever, because he only has small ship, and nobody wants to help him without one small boy. However, next day, he got big fish even bigger than his ship, and fought with it desperately. In order to get big fish itself, he fought with not only just fish, but also fought with loneliness and pain. He finally caught it, however, he could not protect his good result, and lost it to sharks. When he came back to port, he said he lost. However, I believe he won, because he did not give up although he was in bad circumstance. He fought with many things, lost the result, and he was injured, but he has one thing. He has hope. Although he are in dark side now, life is like a coin, so there is bright side also exists. Hope is the key to bring us to go bright side, so we must hold. In this novel, the old man has hope, so when he came back home, he could sleep with hopeful dream. I strongly believe that this is the most important message in this novel, and Hemmingway wanted to say that hope is the important key to make us happy although we are in bad circumstance.

 

When I finished reading this book, I felt that this book gave people who are living this time significantly important message. People are getting hardhearted in these days. More and more people are thinking that their dream cannot be come true, because of lack of ability or background. Then, when they are reminding their past and feeling so regretful. Since I have read this book, I found that the hope is essential for making people’s dream come true, and must not throw away hope. If we still have hope although circumstance is not good, after 84 days, meaning that in the future, our day will come, as this book says “It is silly not to hope, besides I believe it is a sin." Therefore, we must hold our hope although we have difficult situation.
